The objective of this session is to discuss the main current trends in the European asset management sector, the opportunities and challenges facing the sector and the policy priorities for the next European political cycle in this area.

Points of discussion

  1. Trends, opportunities and challenges: What are the main trends in the European investment fund market? What are the main supply side and demand side opportunities and challenges facing the EU investment fund sector? What enhancements are expected from the changes adopted in the context of the AIFMD / UCITS and ELTIF reviews? Can significant impacts be expected from the RIS for the EU asset management sector?
  2. Priorities for the next political cycle: What are the priorities for the next European political cycle in the asset management sector? Are further changes or additions needed to existing EU fund frameworks? Should more emphasis be put on reducing fragmentation in the fund sector and increasing the cross-border distribution of investment products? Are new rules needed to support the digitalisation of the asset management sector and the emergence of tokenized funds?
