Objectives

This session will first explore the latest trends in terms of AI and cloud adoption in the financial services sector, the opportunities and challenges for the financial sector associated with the use of these technologies and the implementation challenges they are facing.

The panel will then analyse how current and upcoming digital and financial regulations are expected to influence the adoption of AI and cloud in the financial sector and what further policy measures may need considering by the incoming Commission to support the continued uptake and safe implementation of AI and cloud technologies in financial services.

Points of discussion

  • AI and cloud computing trends: How is the uptake of AI and cloud services progressing in the financial sector and what are the future prospects? What are the related opportunities for financial players and their customers? What are the challenges to overcome for the successful implementation of these solutions in the financial sector? Are any significant new risks appearing with the increasing use of these technologies?
  • Policy impacts and priorities: Do the existing EU financial, digital and data regulations provide an adequate framework for the development of AI and cloud in the financial sector? Are there major issues remaining to be tackled or clarified to ensure a successful implementation of the AI Act in the financial sector? Are the main jurisdictions approaching the deployment of AI and cloud computing in the financial sector in a consistent manner? Does more need to be done in the EU in terms of policy or standardization to facilitate AI and cloud adoption?
