Objectives
This session will focus on the role that digitalisation can play in further developing retail investment and whether this objective is appropriately reflected in the Retail Investment Package proposal.
A first round of discussion will focus on how digitalisation can help to increase investor participation in the capital markets, the related benefits and possible issues to be considered in this respect. In the second round we will assess whether the proposals of the Retail Investment Package will allow the leveraging of the potential of digitalisation for increasing retail investment and whether further actions need to be considered for taking advantage of digitalisation in the retail investment space.
Points of discussion
- Implications of digitalisation for retail investment: Are digitalisation and the use of new technologies a major driver of the development of retail investment? What are the main benefits provided by digitalisation for retail investors? What are the conditions of an effective use of digital tools in the retail investment space?
- Relevance of the Retail Investment Package for leveraging the potential of digitalisation in the retail investment space: Are the impacts and potentialities of digitalisation well taken into account in the RIP proposal? Are there further issues or measures to consider for successfully using digital tools to develop retail investment?
